FIERCE!

Normally, at work, I spy lots of ladies who would be perfect candidates for "What Not To Wear." The outfits are atrocious, ranging from head to toe fuschia suits, sequinned mohair sweaters, hospital scrubs paired with pumps (seriously), helmet hair, and shoulder pads, shoulder pads, shoulder pads!! Sometimes, I feel like I'm stuck in an episode of Dynasty.

However, as of late, I've seen a few very sassy outfits on women in a range of ages. Not just matchy matchy Banana Republic work separates, but very stylish, almost cutting edge ensembles. Yesterday morning, I saw an older woman with a jet black bob with blunt bangs and Elvis Costello frames. She wore a pencil skirt and a blouse, but with some seriously sexy patent leather stiletto open toed booties. There is also a woman on my floor (and i have no idea what she does), but she has a Pin-up girl vibe to her...flippy shiny blond hair, bright red lipstick, and polka dot vintage dresses. FIERCE!

Sucky Stock Show

Argh, I totally got my hopes up about the Fort Worth Stock Show this weekend because people had been telling me how fun it was, and that there were wild mustangs on display and for auction, and all these cool musical acts were going to be there. Anyhow, we got there at 6:30pm on Saturday night, and the first thing we encounter is a sign that said "Very few livestock exhibits on display today."

WHAT?! A livestock show without livestock?! It instantly put me in a bad mood. Not to mention we were starving.

We did end up in the cattle barn and that was pretty cool to see all the award winning cows and the cutie little baby cows. It was shocking to see how many men were wearing cowboy hats and boots (i would say the majority). I can't believe they were selling tractors and other machinery there. And the rodeo was SOLD OUT!

The beer was free flowing, however, so we did enjoy a beer while perusing the exhibit area, and cows. The horses looked so sad though.

I guess the best time to hit the stock show is early, and during the day?

Hops are part of the Cannabis family

Last night, I went to a beer tasting titled "Hops Heaven" at a bar neear my house. I learned that Hops are a bittering agent/preservative, and that they are part of the Cannabis family. They are used in soups, and smell like feet.

Beers typically have an IBU rating, which stands for International Bitterness Unit. We started out with a beer with a low IBU - around 35, and it was very mild. The last beer we tasted had an IBU of 100+, which was way too insane for me to drink. In fact, it made my eyes water, and it numbed my throat!!

That night, I had crazy dreams about beer drinking and woke up thrashing in my bed.

Hit or Be Hit

This morning, I almost got hit by a huge Coca-Cola truck entering the highway. Then as I was getting exiting the highway, I almost hit a car (she was in my blind spot).

Blecch. I am not a fan of driving in the morning, pre-coffee, especially after a weekend of excess.

At least the weather is GORGEOUS this week! The ice storm was definitely an experience. Last Wednesday, I took one step onto the sidewalk and fell right on my ass (like a cartoon). Luckily I have plenty of padding, and it didn't even hurt! Then driving on the highway over icy patches was waaaaaaaaay scary.
